Overview
Prawn is one of the seafood dishes that can be very tender and tasty to eat. Eating Prawn once a week can enhance eyesight and prevent hair loss. It also significantly helps in weight loss and offers many health benefits. Just as there are many health benefits in it, there are also properties that can cause allergies. Hence, those with allergies should be cautious when eating. In this dish, adding ingredients like onion, ginger, garlic, and fennel enhances its deliciousness. These ingredients make it fragrant and suitable for health.
Ingredients
Prawns – 250 grams
Large onion – 3
Large tomatoes – 3
Ginger – one large piece
Garlic cloves – 8
Fennel seeds – 2 teaspoons
Curry chili powder – 4 teaspoons
Coconut – 1/4 cup
Turmeric – as needed
Curry leaves – as needed
Coriander – as needed
Oil – as needed
Salt – as needed
Cooking Method
- Wash the Prawn thoroughly with water, peel it, and set it aside.
- Add turmeric and salt and strain well. Then wash two or three times. Keep in a container after straining well. Washing with turmeric and salt will kill any germs existent.
- Grate the coconut and set it aside.
- Grind ginger and garlic well. Store them properly. Using a mortar or pestle (Ural or Ammi) will make it aromatic and flavorful.
- Grind the grated coconut and fennel seeds well and keep aside.
- Finely chop the onions and tomatoes and set aside.
- Place the oil pan on the stove and pour in two teaspoons of oil.
- When the oil is nicely heated, add the chopped onions and sauté until it turns a nice golden color. Then add tomatoes and saute.
- Add the necessary amount of salt when cooking the tomatoes. Adding salt while the tomatoes are cooking will help them cook quicker. Once well cooked, add the prawn and sauté lightly.
- When the Prawn is marinated, mix well with chili powder, grinded spices ginger, garlic, coconut and fennel seeds.
- After mixing well, add curry leaves and coriander and mix again.
- Pour water to the level that the prawn will sink, then cover with a lid.
- After a little while, check the pot. The broth should be boiling well. You need to see if the prawn is cooked properly. If it is not yet cooked, add the necessary amount of water, cover the pot again, and let it cook.
- Once the Prawn is well cooked, remove it from the heat and let it rest for a while.
- Boil the prawns well. This allows the spices to soak into them, making the prawns very fragrant. They become tasty to eat.
- This will taste very delicious when dipped with sambar, rasam, dosa, idli, and fish curry. It will be divine when eaten with curd rice.
Note: Prawn can cause allergic reactions. Those trying it for the first time should start with a small amount. They should only continue if there are no adverse effects. If someone has allergies, it’s best to avoid it entirely. Although, a small amount can be consumed if desired. Otherwise, it is a food that can be eaten by everyone. If you want to add spice, sprinkle a little pepper powder into the dish. Do this just before serving. This way, it will enhance the flavor, be delicious, and is also good for colds.
